Councilwoman Victoria Seaman was elected in a special election on June 11, 2019, to complete the term for Ward 2, which initially ended in 2021. However, the passage of Assembly Bill 50 during the 80th Nevada Legislature extended it to 2022.

The Mayor and City Council’s mission is to represent the citizens of Mesquite, make policy decisions, have fiscal responsibility and authority and adopt an annual budget, and to serve the best interest of all citizens of Mesquite. 

Councilman Shaw serves with the mayor and his fellow council members as the legislative branch for the Henderson community. His responsibilities include setting policies and making decisions concerning various aspects of local government.
